Manwolves is the high school band that’s making it and here’s what they have to say

By March 29, 2019No Comments

There’s a new comfort band on the scene right now and I am OBSESSED. Manwolves has developed a certain quality to their sound that’s all about the feel. Today, they will be performing in Brooklyn, so I chatted with them about their past and where they want to grow to.

How do you describe your band’s sound?

This is definitely something we struggle with. It is a mixture of all of our influences from many different genres of music. Feel good music.

When did Manwolves come together and how? What’s your story?

We’ve all been friends since middle school and high school, and when we found out that we were all individually musicians/ interested in music it worked out perfectly. We’ve been working on the band specifically since sophomore year of high school, and have worked on it full time since we graduated high school. We all love music and want to bring the feeling we get from music to as many people as possible.

What’s your biggest inspiration musically?

TBH it is hard to give you a concise answer. It varies for each member, but some artists that inspire all of us are The Slaps, Saba, The Roots, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Velvet Underground, Odd Future, Pro Era.. etc..

Do you think your music mirrors this inspiration at all or do you deviate from it, how so?

We deviate as much as possible and try to create our own unique sound but, you can definitely hear our influences in our work.

What has been your proudest achievement as a band?

Being able to share our music with people across the US and world in places we’ve never been to and sometimes never heard of!

What has been the hardest thing for your band to overcome?

Figuring out how to work and live while still doing the music, and making sure that everyone is on the same page.

What’s up next for Manwolves? Any upcoming plans we should know about?

We are playing Baby’s Alright in Brooklyn, NYC this weekend, and going on tour the weekend afte! Catch us in Louisiana, Texas, California, Vermont and more dates to come soon!

We released our first project ‘A Safety Meeting’ last September, and are currently working on more music.

Where do you see yourselves in 5 years?

Doing the same thing but on a much larger scale.

Number one goal as a band is…

To make the best music we can make, to keep improving as a group, to make as many folks happy as possible, and to have fun with it!

Did you always know you wanted to do music?

I think all of us knew at some capacity that music would be in our lives. Not at all to the degree it is now necessarily but for the most part yes.

From high school hallways to Brooklyn, this band has grown together with a unique style and feel that will leave you more than impressed. If you’re looking for someone to add to your lineup, Manwolves is for you and will definitely give you a pick me up when you’re feeling down.
